A lovely refined shift and shell set that is from when Bill Blass was designing for Maurice Rentner! The fabric is wonderful - swirls of cream on cream with a slightly silverish cast to it. It is cut very simply but perfectly. The under-dress has a lingerie weight silk top to which the skirt is attached, Over this is the little sleeveless shell. This is a clever technique to ensure that the skirt sits perfectly and that the wearer does not inadvertently show skin between the top and skirt. it is really the proper way to cut a skirt and top like this but one no longer used since it used so much extra fabric! Beautifully made and very chic! Excellent, appears unworn condition
Both piece are fully lined in a pale taupe tissue silk. Each closes with a back painted metal zipper. Hidden pockets along the side hip seam. The hem of the shell is weighted.
